Stand up for Labour - Hertford
Stand up for Labour returns to the Hertford Corn Exchange (39 Fore Street, Hertford SG14 1AL) in a fundraiser for Hertford CLP following a fantastic night last year.
The line up this year includes two of the best comedians in the circuit, a guest speaker and the obligatory raffle.
Patrick Monahan won ITV1's 'Show me the Funny' competition and is one of the best live acts you will ever see. His off-the-cuff approach to comedy has had Labour supporters in stitches from Bristol to Edinburgh. He has appeared on several TV shows, including Splash! and Celebrity Squares and was the 2014 winner of Stand up for Labour's Act of the Year.
Ava Vidal is a familiar face on most topical current affairs programmes, having appeared on Newsnight, This Week, Daybreak and ITN News. As well as speaking out on issues such as austerity, aggressive foreign policy and Islamaphobia, she is a fervent supporter of Jeremy Corbyn. Ava’s comedy career took off when she turned heads as the BBC New Comedy Awards’ only female finalist in the very first year of her career. She has subsequently become a headline act and appeared on Mock the Week, Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow and C4 reality show Kings of Comedy.
The host for the night is Crispin Flintoff, who set up Stand up for Labour in 2012 and has organised over 200 shows for Labour audiences. Crispin was a former runner up in the prestigious Hackney Empire New Acts of the Year competition and has appeared on the Paramount Comedy Channel.
Tickets cost £10 if bought before 18 May/£12 in advance and £15 on the door.
