Stand up for Labour - Saltburn-by-the-Sea

Saltburn 13 Dec facebookStand up for Labour returns to the Saltburn House Hotel (Marine Parade, Saltburn-by-the-Sea TS12 1DE) in a fundraiser for Middlesborough South and East Cleveland Labour Party featuring comedy and poetry from some of the best professional performers on the circuit.

Lost Voice Guy (AKA Lee Ridley) is (probably) the first stand up comedian to use a communication aid. He won the BBC New Comedy Award 2014 and has been commissioned to write a sitcom for BBC Radio 4, which is titled 'Ability'. This is due to be broadcast in 2018. Since he started in comedy in February 2012, Ridley has gained a reputation for being both very funny and very unique. He has appeared at all the country's top comedy clubs and has featured on the BBC, CNN, The Independent and The Guardian.

Impressionist, comedian, voice over artist, writer and actor, Cal Halbert has performed from local comedy clubs to the London Palladium, Britain's Got Talent to Good Morning Britain and voiced for YouTube to the BBC.

Kate Fox has made a living as a stand-up poet for ten years. Her second Radio 4 comedy series aired this summer. She is one of the 17 poets for the BBC/Hull 2017 Contains Strong Language Poetry Festival. She has been poet in residence for the Great North Run, Saturday Live on Radio 4 and the Glastonbury Festival.

John Scott has been performing political stand-up comedy in the north-east for many years and has made a great success of his club 'Sod the Tories' at the Stand in Newcastle. John has appeared at Stand up for Labour in Carlisle and was also a crowd favourite at the '#JC4PM' gig in Newcastle last year.

The night is compered by Crispin Flintoff, who set up Stand up for Labour in 2012 and has now organised over 200 gigs for Labour Party groups all over England, Scotland and Wales. Crispin was formerly a runner-up in the prestigious Hackney Empire New Acts competition and went on to feature in Paramount Comedy Channel's 'The World Stands Up'.

The night also features liquid prizes and a raffle and is scheduled to finish by 10pm.

Tickets are only £8 if bought before 1 December/£10 in advance and £12 on the door.
