Stand up for Labour - Aldershot
Stand up for Labour holds a fundraiser for Aldershot Labour Party at West End Centre, Aldershot (48 Queens Rd, Aldershot GU11 3JD) featuring three of the best comedians on the circuit.
Opening act Jen Brister found her comedy feet in a comedy competition judged by Spike Milligan. She has since become a regular favourite at the Edinburgh and Melbourne Festivals as well as a radio presenter on BBC Radio 6. She recently appeared on TV in 'Live at the Apollo'.
Joe Wells is one of the best young political comedians on the comedy circuit, Joe has toured with Alexei Sayle, appeared on Amnesty International's 'Human TV' and writes for TV's 'The Revolution Will Be Televised'. He was opening act for Stand up for Labour's first ever gig in 2012 and has since performed for Labour audiences all over the country.
Headline act Arthur Smith is known as a ‘Grumpy Old Man’ but he has brought joy to many Labour supporters in the past five years, including at the first ever Stand up for Labour in July 2012. Comedy legend Arthur has appeared on every TV show you can think of and is also an accomplished writer and playwright.
The night also includes liquid prizes, a raffle and plenty of time to catch up with friends during the interval and after the show.
