Stand up for Labour - Bournemouth
Stand up for Labour holds an event for Bournemouth Labour Party at the Old Fire Station, 28-36 Holdenhurst Road, Bournemouth BH8 8AD.
The night, which is supported by Bournemouth Young Labour, features a mix of comedy, poetry, music and burlesque.
Arthur Smith is known as a ‘Grumpy Old Man’ but he has brought joy to many Labour supporters in the past five years, including at the first ever Stand up for Labour in July 2012. Comedy legend Arthur has appeared on every TV show you can think of and is also an accomplished writer and playwright.
Attila the Stockbroker is a punk poet who was launched into public consciousness by Radio One DJ John Peel in 1982/83, and he has spent 35 years touring the world, performing well over 3,000 gigs in 24 countries and releasing 40 LPs/EPs/CDs and seven books of poetry.
Theresa May Cabaret is the creation of stand-up comedian and burlesque act Lolly Jones, whose Stand up for Labour debut is in Theresa May's constituency.
Mark Carter the singing trade unionist. From Eltham SE9 London. Have played in Bournemouth bands, The Spoons,Walking Spanish, Plastic Paddy and Cash Converted (Johnny Casj tribute). Will be performing a high energy mix of political folk and cockney kness up originals.
Neil Duncan-Jordan has been a singer-songwriter for over 30 years. He is the lead singer with the Dorset band, The Darwins. His songs mix the personal with the political and are performed in the troubadour tradition.
